Amsterdam Airport Schiphol

About this project

Frequently referred to as one of the best airports in the world, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol has worked with NACO since the 1950s starting with the initial development of the airport’s master plan.

Since its official opening in 1967, NACO has been involved in every single terminal extension at the airport.

In 1988 NACO partnered with Benthem Crouwel Architects and together we have been involved in the planning, design and construction supervision of numerous extensions and renovations of the terminal building.

From 1988-2009, NACO assisted the Airport Authority in planning the necessary expansions to raise the airport’s capacity from 18 million to 48 million passengers annually, and today, the airport is still undergoing continuous development. In 2015, the airport welcomed 58.3 million passengers, cementing its position as one of the fastest growing airports in the world.

NACO provides services to the airport to support this ongoing development, including masterplanning, schematic, preliminary and final designs, as well as tender documents, cost estimates and architectural supervision.
We have also been involved in the planning, design and construction supervision of new developments, extensions and renovations on the airside and landside pavements at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, including the rehabilitation of runways, the construction of a new fifth runway, new taxiways and several apron-related projects around the terminal building.
