(BIAL), India Period 2008 Services Master planning, capital expenditure estimate Team NACO Investment n.a. Map 18 MAP India's economic success and the policy to liberalize air traffic have in recent years created a significant growth in air travel. For Bangalore, air traffic increased from about 2 million passengers in 2001 to 10 million passengers in 2007 and an additional massive increase is anticipated in the near future.
The current master plan for the (new) Bengaluru International Airport was undertaken about five years ago. Given the fast growing demand a review of the available air traffic forecast and updates of planning parameters, development plans and the master plan are urgently required to guide the development of the next and final phases.
The next major expansion phase of the master plan focuses on the need for a second runway and related cross-taxiway system and the phased development of the key facilities such as aprons, passenger terminal and cargo facilities. Other areas of attention are the utility demands fuelled by the rapid air traffic growth and development of commercial areas and the landside access, including the rail link.
Services: Air traffic forecast review; runway capacity analysis; passenger terminal capacity analysis; determination of area requirements; development and evaluation of land use plan alternatives; master plan and terminal configuration studies; capital expenditure estimate.
