Services Planning, design, tender documents, construction supervision Amsterdam Airport Schiphol has frequently been nominated "the best airport in the world". A well-planned development greatly contributed to this. NACO has continuously been working on the development of this airport since 1960.
In 1987-2009 NACO assisted the Airport Authority in planning the necessary expansions to cater to the year 2015, raising the capacity from 18 million to 48 million passengers annually. In 1988 NACO partnered with Benthem Crouwel Architects and since then has been involved in the planning, design and construction supervision of numerous extensions and renovations of the Terminal Building and other buildings at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport.
Various projects such as the following have been carried out by the NACO Benthem Crouwel team:
- Terminal 3 (West) in 1992
- Extension of Terminal 3 in 2004
- Schiphol Plaza
- World Trade Centre phase 1 (1996) and 2 (2002)
- Renovation and extension of Lounge 2 (2000)
- Renovation and extension of Lounge 1 (2004)
- Renovation of Lounge 3 (2009)
- New B-finger
- Renovation of the C-finger
- Two extensions (North and South) of the D-finger including a second floor on top of the existing D-finger
- Extension of the E-finger
- Renovation of the F-finger
- New G-finger
- New H-finger for Low Cost Carriers
- Design for a satellite building and J-finger (not built)
- Auxiliary branch national museum
- Baggage Buffer Building below B-C apron
- Baggage buffer Building below D-E apron
- Baggage Reclaim Building and Baggage Handling Building for implementation of new baggage handling system near Lounge South
- Extension of baggage hall D
- New VIP accommodation
- Security Restricted Area (SRA) projects
- New crew centre, crew hotel and offices on top of recently built Baggage Handling Building South (2009)
- Various Master plans, possible medium and long term developments and possible second operational area
- Redesign Passenger Process
- First and second Air Traffic Control Tower (resp. 1988 and 2002)Since the Airport is continuously developing, Benthem Crouwel NACO is continuously providing services (master plans, schematic, preliminary and final designs, tender documents, cost estimates, construction management and site supervision) for the expansion of terminal buildings as well as other facilities.
NACO has also been involved in the planning, design and construction supervision of new developments, extensions and renovations of the airside and landside pavements at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport.
Following a short list of these projects that have been carried out by NACO:
- Rehabilitation of Runway 01L-19R (18C-36C) (1994-1995)
- Rehabilitation of Runway 06-24 (1996-1997)
- New Fifth Runway 18R-36L (Polderbaan) and Associated Taxiways (1993-2004)
- New H-apron for Low Cost Carrier Operations (2004-2005)
- New Taxiway around Runway 18C (2002-2005)
- New Southeast Cargo Apron (1995-2006)
- New Aprons in the J-Area with De-icing Facilities (2005-2007)
- Several Apron Related Projects Around the Fingers of the Terminal Building (1993-2009)
