State Secretary of Infrastructure and Environment, Atsma, paid a visit to the island of Bonaire on account of the new split of responsibilities that stem from Curacao and Sint Maarten becoming independent from The Netherlands and from Bonaire and Sint Eustatius becoming special municipalities of The Netherlands back in October of 2010.

Atsma opened the renovated runway at Bonaire's Flamingo Airport last Friday, 19 August 2011. Renovations to the 2880 meter runway were necessary in order for it to comply with international standards and requirements. NACO was responsible for the design, cost estimates, specifications, tender & contract assistance, Bills of Quantity and supervision of the runway and the related additional works.

As a result of the cooperation between The Netherlands, Bonaire authorities, Flamingo Airport, Ministry of Transport and Waterworks Inspectorate, Ministry of Infrastructure & Environment and NACO, the runway renovation project has been successfully completed.
