The Supervision Committee for the Expansion of the Abu Dhabi International Airport (SCADIA) has appointed NACO to provide pre-design and design services for the rehabilitation, expansion and modernization of the infrastructure at Abu Dhabi International Airports' South Airfield, one of the major investments on ADIA.

The project comprises the upgrading and refurbishment of the existing runway 13R/31L and associated taxiways and aprons, including all related utilities and services. In addition, a new parallel taxiway system and midfield cargo apron will be realized. NACO is already part of the design team for the new Midfield Terminal Complex, for which the final design is being completed 

NACO CEO Rik Krabbendam stated: "Apart from the size of the project, major challenges are the technical and operational complexity of the project. There are numerous interfaces with other ongoing developments at the airport. The impact on the operations of the airport has to be reduced to a minimum. We are familiar with the existing situation at Abu Dhabi International and have in depth knowledge of the current airside layout and its operations, ensuring effective design works. "
