- History
NACO was founded in 1949 by Dr. Albert Plesman, director-president of the KLM. He foresaw that after World War II, specialized know-how was needed to reconstruct airports in The Netherlands and abroad, and promoted the bundling of expertise available in the Netherlands. During the first few years of its existence, NACO established a firm foundation with projects in the Netherlands, Netherlands Antilles, Indonesia, Egypt, Germany, etc. NACO's reputation as world class airport consultant was further strenghtened when NACO started to play a directive role in the development of Amsterdam Airport Schiphol in the early sixties. Along with technological developments and the growth in air traffic during this period, NACO could further develop into an important player on the international market. The years that followed are marked by organizational growth and expansion of international activities. Since then, NACO has been engaged at more than 550 airports in the world.
NACO is a member of the DHV Group (www.dhv.com), a leading international consultancy and engineering firm with 4,500 professionals and a worldwide network. NACO is one of the key players of DHV's Business Group Aviation, together with InterVISTAS Consulting Group (www.intervistas.com). This combination offers a centre of excellence in the field of airport business consultancy.
